Project Seagull
First year BHASVIC students Maddy and Matilda have founded a fantastic new initiative called ‘Project Seagull’, which we a competition for funding through a scheme by the KICK Charity Den.
The project aims to tackle the overwhelming issue of loneliness and disconnection experienced by young people who have migrated or immigrated to Brighton and Hove and assist in helping them feel more assimilated and welcomed into life here. ‘Project Seagull’ aims to provide teenage refugees and immigrants in and around Brighton with life changing experiences that will not only help them to feel more immersed and welcomed into life here, but build bonds and spark lifelong passions and interests. The project takes the form of a club consisting of young refugees and immigrants that meet every 2 to 3 weeks and get the wonderful opportunity to view a show/ theatre production/ Art exhibition/ concert or other, completely free of charge in Brighton or Hove.
Recently Maddie and Matilda have been working alongside BHASVIC’s ESOL group and have had some very exciting outings such as the Brighton zip line and the I360!
