Prof. Martin Elliott Lecture
We were delighted to welcome Professor Martin Elliott, Medical Director & Paediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Great Ormond Street Hospital, to BHASVIC to talk to aspiring medics from BHASVIC, Varndean and Cardinal Newman about “Life in the Fast Lane…how a healthcare qualification can be a golden ticket.” Martin gave an inspirational lecture charting his journey into medicine, the barriers he experienced in finding his way, then the success and various innovations he helped to spearhead. A central message was the variety of roles and opportunity available to anyone interested in career related to medicine and the importance of working together with people who inspire you. Martin also highlighted the potential of technology to revolutionise and improve the care and support delivered to the most vulnerable patients and to improve care for everyone.
