BHASVIC Women in STEM Club – talk by local scientists
We were fortunate to have two local research scientists from the University of Brighton – Professor Katherine Staines and Dr Irina Savina – come to speak to our Women in STEM club. This is run by two A2 chemistry/biology students and meets once a week on Friday lunchtime in room 24.
Katherine and Irina spoke to our students about their own journeys through education and into scientific research, culminating in their current research and teaching posts at the University’s School of Applied Sciences, where they deliver the BSc Biomedical Science degree programme.
Hearing their stories was inspirational to our students who were able to ask a range of questions at the end of the talk to find out more about how they too might follow in Katherine and Irina’s footsteps!
