Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) at BHASVIC
We are advising all BHASVIC students that they should have a personal laptop to enable flexible learning when in college and at home.
As sixth form college students preparing for employment or further study, we believe it is essential that you develop your digital skills in preparation for your next steps. Our learning materials are made available through our online platforms. You will need to work on your assignments in class, around college and at home. With your own device your work is stored securely, available anywhere and at any time and you can make full use of customisation and accessibility tools. We recommend a modern Windows 10 or 11 laptop.
If you do not own a laptop that you can bring into college then a limited number of laptops can be loaned on a short-term basis from the self-service lockers in the Copper Cafe. Free long-term loans are available for students that meet certain criteria (such as bursary students for example). To enquire about eligibility for a free, long-term loan laptop, please contact the Student Services team at studentservices@bhasvic.ac.uk
WiFi
To use the WiFi at the college you will need to on-board your device. You can do this before you come on site to enrol so that you are ready for study.
To remotely connect your device to the college WiFi ahead of time, please follow the instructions below for your relevant device:
- How to On-Board your Android Device
- How to On-Board your Windows Device
- How to On-Board your Apple Device

You can access the college’s Office 365 services on any device connected to the internet or through mobile apps available for Android or iOS stores (app stores).
Free Microsoft software and applications
Staff and students at BHASVIC are entitled to FREE Microsoft software. The Office Suite can be downloaded from your Office 365 logon.
Additional Microsoft software is available via Azure Dev Tools for Teaching: Click here to sign up for free software!
Please note: Installing software on your home machine is done at your own risk - the college is not responsible for any issues that this may cause.
