What will I study?

This practical course focuses on developing your communication, pre-production, production and post-production skills that are required for working in the film and television industry. Each year, you will be given the opportunity to explore two practical productions: editing skills & a short narrative production (year 1) and a music video and documentary (year 2). Alongside this you will develop knowledge and understanding of pre-production techniques, communication skills and research techniques. You will work in production crews to set internal assignment briefs and develop a production from its initial treatment and pitch to its final individual export.

Creative Media Production is an exciting and challenging course which encourages you to critically engage with and evaluate a broad range of moving image products. The course is designed to provide an educational foundation for a range of careers in the media industry and allied sectors. The practical aspect of the course requires a commitment from students to work outside of their lessons and will allow students the opportunity to develop their skills in camera, editing and project management.

Where next?

This qualification is the equivalent of one A Level. This course will prepare students for working in the creative industries as well as preparing students for entry onto a practical degree at university. At the end of the course, you will have a portfolio of work to take to university or job interviews Possible future careers might include Journalist, Media Planner, Social Media Manager, Technician, Researcher, Digital Marketer and Advertising Officer.
