Jasmine Dumelow

BHASVIC student

What was your previous School? Lewes Old Grammar School

Why did you choose BHASVIC? I chose BHASVIC because of the independence and freedom that you gain as a student. It's much bigger than any school I've been to before, and the facilities for my A-levels were just amazing. To me it felt like a mini university campus, allowing me to take charge of my own education and social life.

What subjects are you studying? Single Maths, Graphic Design, and Computer Science

What’s been the most enjoyable? I enjoyed having a really open schedule throughout my time at BHASVIC. It meant that I had time to do my work, meet my friends, and take part in extra-curricular activities. When I was struggling in an area during class, I had the free time to focus on it, without my studies taking up my entire week.

What were your challenges and what have you learnt? I found mentally balancing my work and social life quite challenging. There were times where I found coursework particularly quite overwhelming. The support system at the college was great, and the flexibility of my teachers enabled me to complete everything I wanted to and really thrive. From that, I have learnt that things don't have to be set in stone, and you really can tailor your experiences to help you succeed.

What are your future plans? I plan to go to Cardiff University to study Architecture. I think that my time at BHASVIC has helped me become more independent and prepared me for the next step.
