Top Music Prize

On Sunday 24 April, Riya Hamie (A1) and two senior 2nd year RCM students - pianist Berniya Hamie (a former BHASVIC student) and violinist Julia BÅ‚achuta - were awarded 1st prize in the Piano Trio Society’s prestigious Senior Intercollegiate piano trio competition out of six UK music conservatoires (RAM, Trinity, Birmingham, Royal Northern, RCM and Guildhall), representing the Royal College of Music. Remarkably, they were the youngest group by far - with an average age of less than 19 whilst many other groups consisted of postgraduate students - and the decision by esteemed judges Raphael Wallfisch, Anthony Marwood and Tom Poster was unanimous. The trio’s prize package includes a cash prize and further concert opportunities organised by the Society.
